R Residential Building

The client’s brief called for the creation of a non-conventional residential building — not merely an anonymous aggregation of floors and housing units, but rather an opportunity to envision something different.

Our design approach was to conceive the building as nine urban villas within a condominium. The generous cantilevers define the corner where three streets intersect, while also creating extensive open spaces that emphasise the close relationship between the interior and exterior environments. This connection is further enhanced by large glazed openings in correspondence with the living areas, where privacy is ensured through the use of brise-soleil screens, which both conceal and continuously transform the architectural expression of the building.
